BAZAAR's take on the big news for the year in fashion, culture and beauty.
By the Harper's Bazaar Staff

Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony

She sits front row at shows like Proenza Schouler and Lanvin, but quintessentially cool actress Chloë Sevigny is just as happy behind the scenes designing her third collection for Opening Ceremony. This time around, she has created five dress silhou-ettes available in five prints--paisley, houndstooth, leopard, polka dot, and floral--with Fogal tights to match. "I am not breaking the mold," says Sevigny. "I am making clothing that girls can wear to feel tough, secure, sexy, and confident." Just like her.

Must-Have Polish

Chanel's latest home-run nail shade is the equivalent of a shimmery smoky eye for the fingertips. We love its light-reflecting iridescent quality, which flatters all skin tones.

Tom Ford Returns

Tom Ford's highly anticipated comeback ushered in fabulous fashion. Get the look with his retro-futuristic shades.

Splashy Shoes

When Jimmy Choo celebrates, it's done in style. For its 15th anniversary, the brand has released a set of chic crystal-studded shoes.

Model of the Moment

New model of the moment: Arizona Muse. The New Mexico native made her debut on the runways at Prada, Chloé, and the Row.

All Hail McQueen

For her first runway show at the helm of the legendary fashion house Alexander McQueen, new creative director Sarah Burton scored rave reviews.

Missoni Masks

Another Missoni has entered the design world. Younger sister Teresa is making cool arts-and-crafts masks.

Helmut Lang Bags

Minimalism makes its quiet mark yet again with the introduction of a pared-down bag collection by eternally hip Helmut Lang.

The New It Girls

Here's a cheat sheet of the latest crop of pop culture's It girls: Ten-year-old Hollywood royal Willow Smith is rocking her way to the top, while up-and-coming French starlet Léa Seydoux is winning the hearts of audiences everywhere. Redheaded actress Jessica Chastain is a newbie on the film circuit. A-list arrivistes!

Shiny Hair

Your mane necessity this season? Hair oil. The best is from celebrity stylist Serge Normant. A few spritzes leave tresses luminous.

Oh My Guinness

The fearless fashion icon, Daphne Guiness will showcase her avant-garde wardrobe at New York's Museum at F.I.T. in September 2011.

Mini Me

Designer duds for tiny tots were all the rage. At Chanel, pint-size model Hudson, who walked with his identically dressed dad, Brad Kroenig, drew oohs and aahs.

YSL on the Brain

Thanks to the recent Yves Saint Laurent retrospective, designers channeled his use of blouson cuts, sweeping day dresses, and brilliant color. The house's current designer, Stefano Pilati, did it with aplomb.

Novelty Prints

From monkeys to zebras to full-on fruit motifs, this season's runways resembled an episode of Wild Kingdom. Stay tuned.

Matthew Williamson Bags

Matthew Williamson's magical prints take shape in jewel-toned bags done in collaboration with Bulgari.

Perfect Ponytails

The classic style popped up all over the spring runways, but the models at Céline took ponytails to new heights with tons of volume at the crown and a center part.

Neon Brights

Turn it on. Striking shades appeared everywhere, from the hot-pink lips at Jil Sander to the lacy acid ensembles at Christopher Kane.

Cool Comfort

The ubiquitous animal-print trend continues, and the leopard loafers from Tod's are a spot-on option.

Scarlett Johansson's Bob

We're predicting Scarlett Johansson's modern, choppy bob will be the hottest cut of the spring season.

One to Watch

His résumé includes stints with Olivier Theyskens and Giambattista Valli, and now young new talent Serkan Sarier is out on his own, designing feminine frocks under the label Brood.

Skirting the Issue

The new hemline at Chloé, Stella McCartney, and many others hits just below midcalf. So should yours.
