Golden Globes Trend : Hairstyles

Ponytails
Glamorous ponytails never go out of style — they're youthful, fuss-free and flattering. Kyra Sedgwick gets our vote for best pony of the night: She had just the right amount of volume and long, face-framing layers. Other standouts were Piper Perabo, who glammed up her style with a red pout; 14 year-old True Grit star Hailee Steinfeld, who couldn't have looked more age-appropriate; and Jennifer Lopez who, as usual, was the epitome of sleek.

French Twists
Awards show hair is tricky: It has to work with the dress, and the style should be modern — but not so trendy that it looks outdated in photos later on. We always expect to see updos — especially this season, as upswept hairstyles swept the spring runways — but were surprised by the elaborate French twists worn by Mila Kunis, Natalie Portman, Emma Stone and Carrie Underwood. These ladies looked lovely and regal in a way that will surely stand the test of time.
